Recently, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry returned to his alma mater, Davidson College, the very school he put on the map. Before Curry’s rise to NBA stardom, Davidson was largely unknown to the general public

Years later, Curry came home to inspire the new generation of players who have committed to the Davidson program, just as he did many years ago. In a video clip shared by the university, Curry thanked the players for their dedication to the Wildcats and encouraged them ahead of the season.

What’s up, fellas?”… “It’s kind of surreal, it’s been, what, 16 years since I left campus? And to think about like, where the team is, where the program is right now, the opportunity that’s in front of y’all. Thank you all for committing to this.

After that, the NBA champion joined a team workout to the delight of the players. They got to experience what it’s like to share the court with a league legend-someone who brought not only his talent but his humility, offering valuable lessons to players beginning their own path toward the pros.

Stephen Curry spent three years at Davidson, where he set the NCAA record for most three-pointers made before being selected seventh overall in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Curry’s support for the next generation

Curry made a huge impact on the Davidson basketball program during his time there, and now that he’s an established NBA icon, he wants to give back to the institution that helped launch his career.

He has created a support fund for young basketball players, aiming to help them thrive while playing the game they love and in which they excel.

He’ll now be working closely with Wildcats general manager Austin Buntz, a longtime acquaintance from Buntz’s time with Under Armour’s global marketing team.

My journey from when I got to Davidson in 2006 to now demonstrated that I had the opportunity to play basketball at the highest level, got a great education, an amazing network through the Davidson alumni and continue to wave the Davidson flag. I want very talented, high-character student-athletes to have that same experience.

Curry said in a statement.

In 2022, Curry returned to Davidson to complete his undergraduate degree, and now he’s looking to be more present at the university-whenever his demanding schedule allows.

The return of Stephen Curry to Davidson wasn’t just a symbolic gesture; it was a meaningful act of leadership, a message to young athletes that success and humility go hand in hand-and that remembering where you came from can inspire others to reach even greater heights.
