Press secretary Karoline Leavitt appeared to grin at her own ‘joke’ retort after a CNN reporter asked Leavitt to clarify her claims on Biden’s signature being potentially used without his knowledge.

As Leavitt ranted about Joe Biden’s ‘mental state’ in her justification for President Donald Trump’s new action – nixing the former president’s pardons over an ‘autopen’ signature – she began to mention the potential that Biden didn’t know his signature was being used.

“Is there any evidence on that?” asked CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins. “You’re a reporter – you should find out if the president was even consulted about his legally binding signature being,” said Leavitt with a smug smile.

This isn’t Leavitt’s first faux pas today. Earlier, Leavitt looked caught off guard after realizing the press was waiting behind her while she chatted with Irish fighter Conor McGregor.

The UFC fighter made a surprise appearance at the White House on St Patrick’s Day, for the “most important meeting” of Ireland’s future. Before meeting with the president, McGregor took part in a press briefing, led by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Cameras caught the two engaged in chat while they waited for the ‘Notorious’ to start answering questions.

Leavitt turned around smiling and said, “Oh hey, how are you guys?” before quickly moving off to the side.

In the impromptu press conference, McGregor claimed what is going on in Ireland is a “travesty,” saying, “Ireland is at the cusp of potentially losing its Irish-ness.”

She also angrily commented on a French politicians remarking that the U.S. ‘doesn’t deserve’ the Statue of Liberty anymore. Leavitt seriously said at a conference the U.S. has no plans to return Lady Liberty during a press briefing on Monday.

Leavitt was asked about Raphael Glucksmann, a member of France’s Place Publique political party, calls for the return of the Statue of Liberty to France, arguing that America no longer embodies the values the statue represents.

Leavitt said the US would “absolutely not” return the statue and addressed that “low level French politician.” She said: “it’s only because of the United State of America that the French aren’t speaking German right now.”

“They should be very grateful to our great country,” she added. Leavitt seemed to be referring to Germany’s occupation of France during World War 2. France was later liberated with the help of the US and other Allied forces in 1944.
