Royal fans have been sent into a frenzy this morning after Prince William and Princess Kate wished Prince Harry a happy birthday, despite an ongoing rift between the two brothers.

Although they have reportedly not been on speaking terms for some time, with Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare last year being the final straw between the pair, this did not stop William from publicly acknowledging his brother’s 40th birthday today.

On official social media channels, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared King Charles’ birthday greeting to Harry and wrote: “Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to The Duke of Sussex!”

Although this does not confirm the rift is over, the message comes as a surprise to many after the accusations Harry hurled at William in his memoir.

On X, some royal fans have said they are not pleased to see the post considering Harry’s previous treatment of the pair.

One person wrote: “I love you William and Kate but I won’t give like to anything related with this man.”

Another said: “He doesn’t deserve your best wishes after everything he’s done to his family the last 5 years or so .. but I get it!!”

Some fans of William and Kate even went so far as to say they were “disappointed” by the post.

One X user wrote: “This is more than he deserves. Truly.”

Another person said: “Ugh. I’m not mad, I’m disappointed.”

Prince William and Prince Harry were last together for a Spencer family memorial service in August, however it is believed the brothers did not speak to one another.

William did also not see his brother earlier this year when Harry flew over from his home to California to see the King in London after his cancer diagnosis.

It is believed that the Duke will celebrate his 40th birthday with a party at his Montecito mansion tonight.

No members of the Royal Family are set to attend.
