Eminem’s mother, Debbie Nelson, is reportedly ‘terminally ill’ with ‘advanced lung cancer’ and has a ‘very limited amount of time left’ – with the rapper allegedly not visiting her
Eminem’s mother, Debbie Nelson, has died at 69 years old. However, it was reported in September that Eminem did not visit her amid their strained relationship.
A source close to the 51-year-old rapper shared with In Touch magazine: “She is terminally ill with advanced lung cancer,” and “There are not many options [for Debbie]. She is currently staying between the cancer center and with family members. She has a very limited amount of time [left].”
Eminem, whose daughter Hailie Jade announced her pregnancy recently, has been financially supporting his 69-year-old ailing mother but didn’t make an appearance in St. JosephYears without contact have left those close to Debbie questioning if Eminem even knows the severity of her condition.
The source remarked, “People around her aren’t even sure if Eminem is even aware of what is happening to his mother,” and added, “He’s good to his mom. He makes sure he takes care of her, but they don’t really talk. It would be good for both of them [to communicate]. This could give them the chance to reconcile.”

Eminem’s relationship with his mother was tumultuous, highlighted by public spats and lawsuits. Back in 2008, while promoting the memoir My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem, Nelson expressed her resolve to bridge the gap between them, telling the Village Voice, “I’m not ever gonna give up on my kids,”, reports the Express US.
“There’s hope for everybody. It’s a matter of just basically swallowing your pride.”
While contending with breast cancer, Nelson shared her anxieties about the potential hereditary health issues that could impact her sons, saying, “I worry about my boys, having high blood pressure and things,” Unwavering in her conviction regarding Eminem’s stardom, Nelson asserted: “Somebody had to get behind him, honey, to get him where he is today. I know there was many times he felt defeated and wanted to give up.”
She added firmly, “Somebody had to get behind him to push him. And it sure as hell wasn’t anybody else except me.”
