Just hours after Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift shocked fans with their engagement announcement, the NFL star’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole seemed to send a subtle message of her own.
The on-air host, who dated Kelce for five years before their 2022 split, reposted a video clip to her Instagram Story featuring actress Tracee Ellis Ross reflecting on the deeper meaning of joy.
“Read about this very concept years ago in a book called Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn’t Enough. I aspire! So, so good,” Kayla wrote, sparking speculation that she was quietly addressing her own journey forward.
Finding Light After a Public Breakup
Kayla has been candid about the challenges of navigating a highly public split, admitting on Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test earlier this year that it left her feeling “overwhelmed and exhausted.”
“Even if I post something simple like the sky is blue,” she explained, “people will still bring up my ex and his new situation. It’s constant, and it’s made me question my value as a person.”
The relentless comparisons to Taylor Swift, she confessed, were the hardest part. Through tears, she admitted: “It’s like a loop I can’t escape. I’m still trying to figure out how to deal with it.”
Choosing Joy, Not Resentment
Yet despite the scrutiny, Kayla has made it clear she holds no resentment toward Taylor. In fact, she praised the pop superstar, saying: “I really like her. I think she’s very talented.”
Her latest post about “choosing joy” may just be her way of reclaiming her narrative — a reminder that while heartbreak and comparisons have tested her, she’s determined to move forward with grace, resilience, and her own sense of joy.
