Stephen Curry admitted he has to call restaurants in advance to ensure privacy as the Golden State Warriors star admitted the pitfalls of his celebrity status

Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry, even at age 37 and coming off a playoff run that ended after an injury in the second round of the Western Conference Playoffs, is still one of the most popular athletes in the world.

With 58.1 million followers, the four-time champion is the second-most followed NBA player on Instagram behind LeBron James. The fame comes with some downsides: a lack of public privacy.

Fans want to get a slice of a man who could compete for yet another NBA title next season with a Warriors roster that retooled at last year’s trade deadline by trading for Jimmy Butler.

In a recent interview with Speedy Mormon, Curry opened up about life off the court and how he has to call restaurants in advance to ensure privacy.

“I’m not out like in the streets ’cause it’s kind of hard to move around at times unless you plan ahead,” Curry told Mormon.

“And then you don’t want to overcomplicate something simple like, ‘Hey, we just want to go to dinner in an hour,’ and I gotta make like seven phone calls just to make sure you can get where you need to go. Like I hate, I do hate that part of it.”

Curry hasn’t been traveling too much this offseason (last year, he was at the Olympics), though he did make an appearance last week at the American Century Championship in South Lake Tahoe, a celebrity golf event in California.

There, he was asked about the Warriors offseason.

“The narrative outside versus the narrative inside might not always be the same,” Curry told NBC.

“We talk [Curry and the front office]. We have communication.

“I know what’s going on to the point where I have a lot of confidence in our ability to put together a winning team next year. That’s all I want.”

Kuminga, the seventh overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft who has averaged at least 15 points per game in each of the last two seasons, is unsigned as an unrestricted free agent.

The Warriors are also expected to sign short contracts to De’Anthony Melton — on the team briefly in 2024 before he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets following an ACL tear — and longtime Boston Celtics center Al Horford.

Curry was a Second-team All-Pro selection last year. He currently has two years left on his deal with Golden State after adding on a further season at $62.6 million.
