3 MINUTES AGO: Prince William Halts His Summer Holiday to Make a Major Announcement — The Entire Royal Family Falls Silent

It has been confirmed that Prince William, patron of the Football Association, will travel to Switzerland on Sunday to attend England’s Euro 2025 final after their thrilling win against Italy last night

Prince William will travel to Switzerland to cheer on the Lionesses in their Euro 2025 final on Sunday, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

The Prince of Wales, who is patron of the Football Association, will be at the finale of Women’s Euros in Basel after England beat Italy in a thrilling victory last night. They will play the winners of the semi-final between Germany and Spain, which takes place tonight

Both William and wife Kate have been away from royal duties over the last week to spend time with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who are on their summer holidays from school.

However, it is likely William and the rest of the family have been following the fortunes of the Lionesses as straight after their extra-time win last night thanks to a Chloe Kelly winner, he took to social media to say: “Brilliant performance @Lionesses! One game from glory!”

Earlier in the tournament, he travelled to Switzerland to watch the England women’s team in their group match against the Netherlands, which they won 4-0. And before they headed off for the championships, he visited the team at their St George’s Park training ground.

There, he told them: “The men’s team could definitely learn off your camaraderie and your team environment. You’re brilliant together, you create a very unique unit that is rare in lots of other sports. So hold onto that, treasure that, build on it, because it’s one of your greatest assets.”

William previously presented the England women’s team with the trophy when they won the 2022 Women’s Euros after beating Germany at Wembley.

However, he came in for heavy critixism when in 2023, he did not travel to support the team when they reached the World Cup final against Spain the following year, which they ultimately lost.

Before the match though, he did send a video message wishing the players good luck alongside his daughter Charlotte. It is not known if any of his children will accompany him to Sunday’s match, although George did join him at the men’s Euro final against Spain in Berlin last year, which they lost.

William’s annoucement that he will be at the final comes after King Charles also issued a statement last night to send his congratulations to the team after reaching the final.

In a statement posted on social media, the King said: “My wife and I join all our family in wishing you, the proud Lionesses, our warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the Uefa Euro tournament.

“Your journey to this stage has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing the skill, determination (and test of nerve!) for which your team is so rightly celebrated. Knowing the Lionesses’ fighting spirit, I suspect we are in for another thrilling encounter on Sunday.

“Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible. Good luck, England. May you roar to victory once more. Charles R.”

Prime Minister Keir Starmer also posted on social media “what a performance”, adding: “Into the final and inspiring the nation. Let’s bring it home.”
