Princess Beatrice ‘desperately worried’ over lurid Andrew claims amid birthday ‘sadness’

As Princess Beatrice celebrates her 37th birthday, royal expert Jennie Bond believes her special day could be overshadowed by the recent spate of allegations against her parents

Princess Beatrice is celebrating her 37th birthday today, and while the royal is presumably celebrating in private at home with her husband and children, her special day could potentially be overshadowed.

Beatrice is the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who have had a spate of allegations levelled against them this week, with claims made by royal biographer Andrew Lownie in his upcoming book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York.

For Beatrice, the flurry of claims against her parents may have forced her to change her birthday plans entirely, opting to celebrate away from the spotlight as to not draw anymore attention to the York family. It comes after claims Prince Andrew’s team would request attractive women be brought to his events as a trade envoy, leading to one disgusted diplomat to reply: “I’m not a pimp.”

As former BBC royal commentator Jennie Bond believes, Beatrice will also feel protective over her parents, and will have learned to ignore the influx of graphic headlines after years of practice.

Jennie Bond told The Mirror : “Love is blind, they say. And, in spite of all their faults, Andrew and Fergie have retained the unconditional love and loyalty of their two daughters. This week’s avalanche of lurid reports about their father, and tales of their mother’s irresponsible extravagance, will have been an unwelcome 37th birthday gift for Beatrice — but her instinct will be once again to protect her parents and ignore the noise.

“As any mum with three young children will know, life is hectic and I doubt that Beatrice has much time to sit and moan about the devastating claims made against her father in the new biography. By now, she has probably come to terms with the fact that Andrew should never have done the disastrous Newsnight interview which directly led to his downfall, and she should not have been with him or supported his decision to speak out.

Despite possibly being “desperately worried about both of her parents”, Jennie believes that a birthday celebration could be just what the family needs, as she said: “If they get together today there really is nothing like tiny children to take your mind off things. An afternoon full of fun and laughter — or even toddler tantrums — can be a fabulous distraction!”

The royal expert also shared that Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, will no doubt be doing everything he can with the couple’s three children in tow – Christopher Woolfe, 9, Sienna, 3, and baby Athena, who was born in January – took make his wife’s birthday as special as it can be.

Bond said: “I imagine that her husband will try very hard to take Beatrice‘s mind off all that’s happened as well. Perhaps a quiet dinner out, or a cosy celebration at home— either way, he knows it’s his job to support and comfort his wife on a day that should be full of happiness but will inevitably be tinged with sadness after another week of graphic headlines.”

The flood of allegations against Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson began earlier this week, when excerpts from Andrew Lownie’s explosive book were made public a week ahead of its anticipated release.

The book makes a number of allegations about the Duke and Duchess of York’s’ “hedonistic life, controversial friendships and secretive money-making endeavours”, while also making claims about tensions within the royal family.

Countless allegations came to light in the explosive book, including how Fergie allegedly made ludicrous demands of royal staff after marrying into the Firm, and both the Duke and Duchess of York had countless affairs during their six-year marriage.

The royal biographer also wrote how Prince Andrew had made “rude” comments about Kate Middleton, and reported that Prince Harry and Prince Andrew allegedly had a physical fight – which a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex has since denied.

Princess Beatrice was born on August 8th 1988, becoming the ninth in line for the throne behind her father, Prince Andrew.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the latest allegations against Prince Andrew.
