The Happy’s Place star served up major hair inspo at the Opry’s 100th anniversary special.

Reba McEntire wore her hair with a whole lot of yee and even more haw for NBC’s Opry 100: A Live Celebration, styling her signature red locks into a high, party ponytail and fluffy bangs. With her glamorous earrings, bejeweled jacket, and matching boots, her whole look made it clear she was ready to celebrate.

The three-hour celebration of country music kicked off with McEntire singing Loretta Lynn’s “You Ain’t Woman Enough” solo on the stage of the Opry in Nashville. She was then joined by Trisha Yearwood, and together they performed McEntire’s 1991 hit “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia.” Throughout the performance, McEntire rocked the ultimate party ponytail, a big departure from her casual style on Happy’s Place.

Meanwhile, at the Ryman Auditorium, Lainey Wilson and Marty Stuart kept the party going, starting the evening strong on both stages!

McEntire’s always been a redhead, but other than that, she’s had just about every look in the book, from perms to a pixie cut. “It was in ’96 or ’97 when I cut my hair off, and it was freeing. But you know what? I had to talk to my management and my stylist who did my hair, because it took almost a year for me to talk them into letting me cut my hair,” she revealed to Glamour. “They told me my hair was my image. ‘You got your big hair all jacked up to Jesus. You can’t cut your hair off.’ And I said, ‘Well, it’ll give you something else to talk about.’ And they said, ‘Oh, okay. That’s an idea.’ So we did.” And hairstory was made!

Even though the “Fancy” singer was the pinnacle of cowgirl gorgeous at the Opry’s 100th anniversary special, McEntire had to overcome insecurities as a kid. “I was pale, [had] lots of freckles and frizzy hair,” she recalled during an April 2024 interview with E!. “My girlfriends had long, black, straight, beautiful round curls. Another girlfriend could tan easily, so I’d lay out with her, and she would get brown as a biscuit — and I’d be blistered… I finally figured it out: I’m not supposed to be like them — I’m just me. It took me a long time to accept that and realize that it set me free.”
