Woman killed, child seriously injured in horror Gold Coast crash

UPDATE: Police have confirmed a woman has died following a horror Mother’s Day crash on the Gold Coast.

Three cars including a Mitsubishi ASX station wagon, a Mazda 3 hatchback and a Mazda BT-50 dual cab ute collided on Maudsland Road at Maudsland around midday on Sunday.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 41-year-old Coomera woman, suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.

Her passenger, an 11-year-old girl, was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition but is thankfully now stable.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are now underway by the Forensic Crash Unit.

They’re appealing for anyone with relevant information or dashcam/CCTV footage to come forward.

EARLIER: A horror Mother’s Day crash on the Gold Coast has left a woman and little girl fighting for life.

Emergency crews were called to Maudsland Road in Maudsland around 12pm on Sunday following reports of a three car crash involving a Mitsubishi ASX station wagon, a Mazda 3 hatchback and a Mazda BT-50 dual cab utility.

The female driver of the Mitsubishi and her young passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and were rushed to hospital.

The two other drivers involved were also taken to hospital, with one suffering serious injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit has confirmed it is investigating.

They’re appealing for anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
