*Warning: Season 3 spoilers ahead*
Netflix is preparing to release Outer Banks season four, and it’s safe to say that fans are beyond excited.
Co-creators Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke released a joint statement back in 2023 announcing that Outer Banks had been renewed for season four. “Seeing Poguelandia come to life was nothing short of spectacular,” it read, per Variety. “The Pogues are enjoying an adventure of a lifetime and we now get to map out more twists and turns as the joyride continues into season 4 of Outer Banks. Thank you to Netflix, our cast and the amazing fans who helped to make this happen.”
After that wild season three finale, I’m anxious to see what’s next for the gang. But until then, here’s a rundown of everything I know about Outer Banks season four.

1. What Is Outer Banks Season 4 About?
At the end of season three, the Pogues receive a captain’s log that once belonged to Blackbeard, a famous pirate. John B agrees to investigate the clue, which suggests that season four will see the group embark on yet another drama-filled quest for Blackbeard’s treasure.
Additionally, Carlacia Grant, who plays Cleo, shared some predictions regarding her character’s journey in season four. She told Cosmopolitan, “I have some theories. I don’t want to ruin them, but I would love to see Cleo’s backstory. Like if a person came back from Cleo’s past to really explain some of her mannerisms. It’s Outer Banks. Her mom died, her dad left, but any of these people could appear somehow.”
2. Who Is in the Outer Banks Season 4 Cast?
Judging by the final scene in season three, it’s safe to say that both John B (Chase Stokes) and Sarah will return (Madelyn Cline).
The rest of the main cast—including Madison Bailey (Kiara), Grant (Cleo), Rudy Pankow (JJ) and Jonathan Daviss (Pope)—will also reprise their roles in Outer Banks season four.
The new season will also feature a few newcomers, including J. Anthony Crane (Billions), Pollyanna McIntosh (The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live), Brianna Brown (Dynasty), Rigo Sanchez (Animal Kingdom) and Mia Challis (Clickbait).

3. When Does Outer Banks Season 4 Premiere?
The first half of Outer Banks season four will hit Netflix on October 10, followed by the second half on November 7.
The cast wrapped filming the new season back in June 2024. Stokes confirmed the news in a video on Instagram, where he said: “Hey everybody, we just wrapped season four. We did it!”
4. Is There a Trailer for Season 4?
In the trailer, John B reminds viewers what they missed, saying, “So, you might be wondering what happens after you found the lost city of El Dorado, and you’re stranded with a sackful of gold? Let me catch you up.”
The clip goes on to show a montage of clips featuring the Pogues enjoying summer. “We were gonna live the good life, the simple life. Treasure hunting was in the past,” John B’s voiceover adds. “What we didn’t know at the time was that nothing ever stands still.” Gulp.

5. Is Outer Banks Returning for Season Five?
As of September 2024, Netflix hasn’t announced a fifth season for Outer Banks. However, that could change in the future because co-creator Josh Pate previously revealed that there’s more story to tell.
“I don’t know if I could put a real number on it right now — how long it takes to get to that ending might expand, but we now know the shape of the end of the story,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “We’re going to take it as long as we can, for sure.” Music to my ears.
