Prince William had a “frosty exchange” with his father, the King, during last weekend’s Trooping the Colour festivities, over Prince Harry’s bombshell return to the UK, it has been claimed. Speculation has been growing after reports claimed the Duke of Sussex would be bringing his home family, including his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, back to the UK for the first time in four years next month.
The bombshell trip could pave the way for an emotional and long-overdue reunion between the monarch and his estranged American grandchildren. Harry and Meghan have reportedly been offered accommodation at a royal residence even though they have yet to reply. But now new reports claim the King’s olive branch may have turned his relationship with his heir, Prince William, sour.

The Mail on Sunday claimed that royal insiders said the King’s willingness to see Harry has sparked tensions with William, who wants nothing to do with his brother.
The Duke of Sussex is said not to be on speaking terms with the Prince of Wales, following a wave of bombshell claims he has made about him in interviews and his memoir, Spare, after quitting the Royal Family in 2020.
Sources told the outlet that the “King’s relationship with William is not in a good place” and that the pair is at a “very low ebb”.
They claimed the tension was evident during last weekend’s Trooping the Colour, when, according to the outlet, William had learned of the Sussexes’ arrival just a few hours before the main ceremony.
William reportedly said that his father is making a “misjudgment” in trying to reconcile with Harry.
One insider said: “Queen Camilla, King Charles, and the Princess of Wales were not outwardly warm together that day and the reason was not just the protesters. Relations were decidedly frosty backstage.”
Another source added: “So much of what they do is performative. But there was little performance on display that day.”
But other sources close to the monarch and the heir vehemently denied those claims and said the father and son’s relationship is “incredibly positive” and “unchanged”.
The last time Harry is believed to have spoken to William was at the late Queen’s funeral in September 2022.
