Jenna Ortega appears alongside Thing in a new video for Wednesday season 2. Ortega plays the titular Wednesday Addams in the Netflix series, whose first season became an instant hit upon its release in 2022. Wednesday season 2 is in development and is set for release sometime in 2025. In addition to Ortega, the sophomore season features a leading cast including Emma Myers, Moosa Mostafa, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Fred Armisen, Thandiwe Newton, Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Christopher Lloyd, Haley Joel Osment, Noah Taylor, and Heather Matarazzo.

Now, Netflix has revealed a new video from season 2, starting with text on the screen that reads “Wednesday reads you a bedtime story.” The bedtime story sees the dour teenage protagonist reading a pathology report, which includes the body of a 35-year-old male who had suffered three stab wounds. As Wednesday recites in her characteristic monotone, the scene transitions to eerie music and cuts to Thing. The clip ends with Wednesday saying “sweet nightmares, Thing.”

While this Wednesday clip does little to reveal plot details for season 2, it does hint at the locations featured in the next episodes. First, she is pictured in a Nevermore Academy uniform, which confirms that Nevermore will be a main feature in season 2, as was introduced in the initial footage. Secondly, the label on the pathology report reads “Property of Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital.”

Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital is where Tyler Galpin is transported in the Wednesday season 1 ending. While Wednesday herself may not be sitting in this psych hospital in this scene, the reference to this place hints that this location will factor into season 2. Characters may interact with Tyler, or have to confront other characters at Willow Hill in season 2, but regardless of how it manifests, the location has to factor into the upcoming episodes in some way.

Our Take On This Wednesday Season 2 Clip

Wednesday Season 2 Is Bringing Back Key Elements

Jenna Ortega on set in costume as Wednesday for Wednesday season 2

This Wednesday season 2 video is a good sign of season 2. It shows Ortega’s performance infusing all the classic inflections that got her attention and earned her an Emmy for season 1. It also features Thing, a character from the original Addams Family story that plays a key role in the Netflix show. The black-and-white color scheme is a good way to pay homage to the original series, though it does not necessarily indicate that this style will come into play in season 2. Still, it could feature some black-and-white segments.
