Peter Phillips, the King’s nephew, will wed Harriet Sperling, an NHS nurse, before their closest family and friends today.

The couple will exchange their vows at All Saints’ Church in the Cotswolds village of Kemble, Gloucestershire, which is almost equidistant between the two family homes.

Guests, including the King and Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales, will arrive from 12pm. The bride is set to arrive at 1pm.

Mr Phillips, 48, the son of the Princess Royal, proposed to Ms Sperling, 46, last summer after they had dated for just over a year.

His daughters, Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14, from his first marriage to Autumn Kelly, and Ms Sperling’s daughter Georgina, 13, from her first marriage to Antonio St John Sperling, a fitness instructor, are expected to be bridesmaids.

The three teenagers are known to be close and play on the same local hockey team.

Ms Sperling’s mother, Mary Sanders, and her three siblings, Louisa, Rebecca and Nicholas, are also expected at the wedding, offering the public its first glance of this blended family.

After the ceremony, guests will make their way to the Princess Royal’s Gatcombe Park estate just a mile or so away, where the celebrations will continue well into the night.

First big royal wedding since 2018

The ceremony marks the first major royal wedding since Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018.

The family gathered en masse for the lavish occasion at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, which came just five months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wed at the same venue.

Her elder sister, Princess Beatrice, wed Edo Mapelli Mozzi in July 2020. However, the marriage took place during lockdown and was attended by only close family members.

Guests arrived on Friday evening

Many of the couple’s guests are understood to have arrived on Friday evening, staying at some of the Cotswolds’ many smart hotels.

One group arrived at the Kings Head, in Cirencester, laden with dress and suit carriers and hat boxes.

The party checked in to the sounds of local band Parlor performing in the bar. Their versions of soul and pop classics soon had some of the more enthusiastic locals and visitors up on their feet and showing off their moves.

Fashion founder among first guests to arrive

Among the first guests to arrive were Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs and her husband Rupert Finch.

Lady Natasha is the co-founder of the luxury fashion label Beulah, a society favourite and a staple in the wardrobes of the Princess of Wales and Harriet Sperling.

Mr Finch dated the Princess of Wales while they both attended the University of St Andrews in 2001.
