The Prince of Wales will seek to comprehensively audit the royal establishment upon his ascension to the throne
Prince William is preparing to significantly restructure the Royal Family’s operations when he becomes king, with plans to modernise and streamline the monarchy for the contemporary era.
The future monarch has been developing his vision during what he described as “the hardest year in my life” whilst supporting his wife and father through their cancer diagnoses.
Sources close to William have revealed he intends to conduct a comprehensive review of the royal household at Buckingham Palace, which has remained largely unchanged since Victorian times.
“When the moment comes, he’ll want to do it his way: genuinely, not just following a script,” a friend of the Prince claimed.

Prince William is planning to overhaul the current running of the Royal Family overseen by King Charles.
William aims to ensure the institution is “fit for purpose in the modern era” whilst maintaining its relevance and impact, The Times reported.
The Prince plans to “take every stone and look underneath it” whilst examining the institution’s structure.
“He’s not afraid to dig into the details, ask the tough questions, and figure out what actually works today,” the confidant explained.
To that end, William is said to be “mindful of how much the monarchy costs” especially in relation to the sovereign grant of £86.3 million, which works out at £1.29 per person in the country.

The Prince of Wales is said to be seeking to modernise to Royal Family and account for its expenditure.
As such, he will carefully scrutinise whether the institution delivers “impact,” which is said to be a key priority for William.
Unlike his father and grandmother, who delegated household management to courtiers, William also intends to be “hands on” in creating a leaner organisation.
The departure from the approach of his predecessors will also extend to his hand as monarch in affairs of state.
William will supposedly move away from the traditionally “passive role” of the head head of state in favour of “more private, robust challenging of advice” in matters.

William plans to take a ‘hands on’ approach to his duties when he becomes monarch.
The future King is also said to be eyeing a stripping down of some royal formalities, some of which he is already practicing as the Prince of Wales.
Traditionally, senior royals are accompanied by the relevant county’s lord lieutenant but are rarely seen alongside William.
The dispensing of the dignitaries, who serve a purely ceremonial role in the modern era, has reportedly left lord lieutenants unhappy according to a friend of the Prince.
This attitude will also be reflected in William’s own coronation,, which will supposedly “look and feel quite different” from his father’s ceremony”.

William will seek to significantly alter his coronation from his father’s 2023 ceremony.
Sources indicated it will be trimmed further from Charles’s already streamlined three-hour service.
William is also said to have declined to have a “homage to the people” be delivered during his ascension.
The homage featured prominently in King Charles’s service.
During the 2023 ceremony, attending guests and others around the country were invited to pledge: “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.”

The future King also also mulling over the use of the iconic Imperial State Crown during proceedings.
“There is no way he (William) will go down that route or anything like it,” an insider told The Times.
“He mindful of the fact that, whenever his time comes, how can the coronation be modern but also unifying to the nation and the Commonwealth?” They added.
Also on the mind, and potentially on the head, of the future King regarding his coronation will be the inclusion of the iconic Imperial State Crown during proceedings.
William is supposedly mulling the idea of dispensing with a crown entirely yet maintains some sentimental attachments to the Imperial State Crown through its prominent use by his father and grandmother.
