Training camp for the 2025-26 season is right around the corner, but the Lakers still don’t know where LeBron James’ story is headed. He picked up his $52.6 million option back in July, which many thought was a sign he’d lock into another contract. Instead, weeks have gone by with no extension-and whispers around the league suggest this season could be his last ride in Los Angeles.

LeBron has made it clear over the past few years that he wants to share the floor with his son, Bronny. That dream might not happen in L.A., though. Which is why a trade idea floating online this week caught everyone’s attention: send them both out together.

The proposal comes in the form of a three-team blockbuster. The Heat would bring back LeBron and add Bronny James plus Maxi Kleber. The Lakers would get Andrew WigginsPelle Larsson, and Nikola VucevicChicago would walk away with Terry Rozier and a 2026 first-round pick from Miami.

Could LeBron Really Return to Miami?

On paper, each team has something to gain. For the Lakers, the appeal is clear-depth. Wiggins, a former No. 1 pick, could slot in as a reliable two-way wing. Vucevic, on a $21.48 million deal, would give them a big who can rebound and stretch the floor. Pelle Larsson adds another 3-and-D option.

Miami, meanwhile, would be taking a giant swing. A reunion between LeBron and the Heat would pair him with Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and Norman Powell, putting them right in the mix to control the East. Adding Bronny would also give the franchise a fresh storyline and potentially extend LeBron’s stay.

For the Bulls, the deal is about turning Vucevic’s contract into a first-round pick and a solid veteran guard in Rozier-a move that aligns with their rumored interest in reshaping the roster.

Lakers fans may not want to imagine life without LeBron, but uncertainty has hovered over his future since July. Even Luka Doncic, fresh off signing his three-year, $165 million extension with L.A., reportedly told GM Rob Pelinka he didn’t want to see James dealt (per ClutchPoints).

Still, this trade isn’t coming from Adrian Wojnarowski or Shams Charania. It’s a fan idea that spread quickly because it touches all the angles: LeBron’s final chapter,Bronny’s second season, and the Heat’s history with James. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has already noted that LeBron is “keeping all options open” while monitoring both the Lakers’ moves and Bronny’s early development.

At 40, LeBron still averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists last season. Whether that production continues in Los Angeles, Miami, or somewhere else, the father-son storyline ensures his every move will dominate the NBA’s headlines until he makes his next decision.
