Toie Roberts, the long-term partner of the Jacksonville rap sensation, took to Instagram to share her “unbearable pain” after the 25-year-old star’s sudden and tragic death sent shockwaves through the music industry.

‘HE LEFT US TOO SOON’
Lil Poppa—real name Janames Samuel—passed away last month from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, leaving behind a legacy of raw talent and a grieving family.
In a series of soul-shattering posts featuring never-before-seen snaps of the couple in happier times, Toie laid bare the “constant heartbreak” of life without the man she called her “forever.”
The emotional post, which has already racked up thousands of likes and messages of support, shows the rapper cradling their young son, Kofi (affectionately known as PJ).
“Nothing could EVER describe the pain, the thoughts, the constant heartbreak of it all,” Toie wrote in a caption that has haunted fans. “Our reality changing before my eyes. I’ve been wondering how could you be so in a rush to leave us so suddenly & torturing.”
A TRAGIC FINAL CHAPTER

The Jacksonville native was known for his gritty lyrics and melodic flow, but behind the scenes, a darker battle was clearly taking place. Toie’s tribute suggests the suddenness of the tragedy has left her “feeling played” by fate.
“For us to go on without you in life… but deep down, [I] know you didn’t mean to & you didn’t mean to hurt us,” she continued. “ESPECIALLY NOT KOFI.. at least NOT LIKE THAT!!! How tf you leave without saying you’ll see us later?!”
Sources close to the star say the hip-hop community is “reeling” from the loss of such a young talent who appeared to have the world at his feet.
‘THE PLAN WAS DIFFERENT’
The most poignant part of Toie’s message touched on the future they had planned together—a future that was cruelly snatched away in a single moment.
“This wasn’t the plan for US!” she cried out. “I don’t believe this is where our story was supposed to end but with the help of God we’ll get through it.”
She went on to describe the agony of watching their son grow up as the “spitting image” of his father, knowing the rapper won’t be there to see it.
“Watching our only son PJ grow up without you in front of my eyes while looking & acting JUST like you!!! I hope I find the missing pieces to the puzzle. None of this s**t making sense. MY SON LOST HIS FATHER! I will never take that lightly!”

A TRIBUTE FROM THE STARS
Since the news of his passing broke, a “Who’s Who” of the rap world has come forward to pay their respects.
Lil Duval shared his shock, posting: “Rest up, young King.”
Boosie Badazz, who had long supported the young rapper’s career, expressed his devastation over the “senseless” loss of life.
Thousands of fans have flooded Poppa’s last Instagram posts with “RIP” and emojis.
Toie ended her message with a harrowing promise to keep his memory alive, despite the weight of her grief. “I’m not happy to be grieving you & grieving for 2 people for the rest of my life!!!”
GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
Lil Poppa rose to fame with hits that chronicled the struggles of life in Florida, gaining millions of streams and a cult following. But today, the music has stopped as his family tries to pick up the pieces.

Medical examiners confirmed the cause of death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound, a detail that has sparked a wider conversation online about mental health in the high-pressure world of rap.
For Toie and young PJ, the road ahead is long, but she insists that “with God’s help,” they will find a way to live in a world without their hero.
If you or someone you know is affected by any of the issues raised in this story, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988 or visit your local mental health support center. You are not alone.
