Prince Harry has had a strained relationship with his brother Prince William for many years, but one thing could bring them back together and likely repair their fractured relationship.

The Duke of Sussex, who now resides in the US, announced his plans to step down as a senior working royal in 2020 – but tensions with William likely began two years prior.

Harry, 40, previously shared details of a physical confrontation with William in his bombshell memoir Spare. The Duke is said to have become frustrated after William made comments about Meghan Markle, including referring to her as “rude” and “abrasive”.

A sweet video, posted on Instagram by @ilovediana.forever, shows clips of William and Harry with their late mother, Princess Diana. The video also shows clips of the brothers reminiscing on memories from the documentary, Our MotherHer Life and Legacy in 2017.

Fans took to the comment section to express that William and Harry could reunite with their shared love for their late mother in mind, with one fan writing that “family unity” was what Diana wanted the most.

Another fan wrote: “She was a wonderful mum who would want both of her boys to get along and put aside whatever is wrong behind you. Life is too short…”

A third wrote: “I hope you two can fix this relationship [cry-face emoji].”

Much like the third reply, another wrote: “Please let your differences be met with a compromise and start the healing…”

Prince William was just 15 at the time of their late mother’s death on August 31, 1997. At just 12, Harry was just two weeks shy of his teenage years.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward previously told Fabulous that the late royal’s family may be able to help Harry and William’s ongoing feud – but it could prove difficult.

She explained: ” I think the Spencers understand that family dynamics are very difficult. The girls have always been very careful to protect Harry as much as they can, but there is a limit to what they can do within the royal family.

“William, being a working member of the royal family, is far busier than the others, so it’s difficult for them to touch base with him. He has so many problems of his own, and they probably don’t want to burden him further or interfere.

“They likely feel it’s not their place to get involved. Of course, they could help, but they would be very wary of interfering.”
