The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, attempted to make a drastic U-turn Thursday morning on the ongoing fallout from the Signalgate text messages.

Donald Trump’s mouthpiece, who lost her temper and snapped at CNN’s Kaitlan Collins during a volatile press conference on Wednesday that ended with her humiliatingly running away, spoke to reporters briefly after appearing on Fox and Friends to talk about the arrest of an MS-13 leader.

During the gaggle, Leavitte was asked if the White House was planning on holding one accountable for adding Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg to a group chat that discussed sensitive information about the bombing of Yemen and Houthi rebels.

“Well, we have never denied that this was a mistake, and the national security advisor took responsibility for that,” she said to the assembled crowd.

“And we have said we are making changes,” Leavitt, 27, said. “We are looking into the matter to ensure it can never happen again.”

“But of course, the president has put together a team — look at the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, who was voted in by the United States Senate, putting our war fighters first, making the world a safer place for the American people and for all people,” she added.

“And we’re going to stay focused on that. and I think the arrest of an MS 13 gang leader this morning speaks volumes about the confidence of the president and his team.”

The answer was a stark difference from the one Leavitt was peddling on Wednesday during her almost daily press briefings. “If this story proves anything, it proves that Democrats and their propagandists in the mainstream media know how to fabricate, orchestrate, and disseminate a misinformation campaign quite well,” the irate press secretary said yesterday.

Leavitte’s blistering message came after she called the piece authored by Goldberg a “sensationalized story from the failing Atlantic magazine” while attempting to smear the reporter and doubling down on claims that no classified information was leaked. Leavitt further attempted to smear the editor’s reputation.

She accused Goldberg of being an “anti-Trump hater” and a “registered Democrat.” Goldberg, 59, has interviewed high-profile political figures, including Barack Obama and supported the invasion of Iraq over fears of chemical weapons, which Leavitt mentioned in an attempt to discredit the journalist.

Goldberg, who had previously served as part of the Israel Defense Forces, had previously drawn the wrath of Trump after he wrote a piece ahead of the November election about his alleged affinity for Adolf Hitler, with exclusive insights from top ex-staffers, including Gen. John Kelly.

During the press conference, Leavitt also snapped at CNN’s Kaitlin Collins. During the briefing, Collins asked briefing “Since we have these messages released and you have said that the president had now personally reviewed them in the chat and at one point Pete had wrote ‘1415 strike drones on target and in all caps he said this is when the first bombs will definitely drop.'”

Collins added, “Does the president feel that he was misled by his national security advisors, whoever it was that told him there was no classified information in there now that he’s seen these messages?” The question seemed to draw the ire of the 27-year-old, who laid into Collins.

“I have now been asked and answered this question three times by the both of you, ” said Leavitte while indicating another reporter. ” And I have given you my answer. The president feels the same as he did yesterday.”

Collins attempted to ask the press secretary a follow-up question, but was swiftly cut off by Leavitt, who called on another reporter in the room. “I have a follow-up on what you have just said,” she begins while interrupting the other reporter.

“Kaitlan, I am not taking your follow-up,” Leavitt said coldly. Collins once again tried to interject but was once again cut off by Leavitte, who more sternly said,” Kaitlan, I am not taking your follow-up.”

While trying to maintain her composure, Leavitte continued to take questions from reporters about the thread. However, during the man’s follow-up question, Leavitt once again loses her cool.

“Again, I have now been asked and answered this same question using different language multiple times,” she seethed. “Now, if anybody has a different question, there is a lot of different things going on in the world. We have tariffs possibly being implemented later today which the president will talk about at 4 pm.”
