Fox News host Joe Concha tested the 5-second rule by dropping a banana on the floor and eating it.

In a Wednesday segment on the Outnumbered program, co-host Ainsley Earhardt reported that a scientist had recently demonstrated that bacteria grow on food less than one second after it’s dropped on the floor.

“This is very dependent to me on the consistency of the food and the location where it’s dropped,” co-host Lara Trump opined.

“Yeah, listen, I think it depends on the food 100%,” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy agreed. “Let’s be honest, a little germs is good for kids… You want them to be exposed to germs and survive in the world because there’s germs everywhere.”

“Let’s put it to the test, shall we?” Concha said before dropping a banana on the floor and counting to five.

“There is so much junk!” Earhardt exclaimed. “No, please!”

With that, Concha took a large bite of the banana, resulting in screams from the other hosts.

“That is sick,” Earhardt said.

“This guy is definitely auditioning for the Pete Hegseth seat,” Campos-Duffy noted, recalling that Hegseth, a former Fox News host, once said he did not wash his hands because he couldn’t see germs.

“Pete Hegseth would have a bagel with cream cheese,” Earhardt responded. “He would drop it. It would land upside down. The cream cheese on the floor. He would pick it up. I’m like, wait, is there any hair on there! He would just pop it in his mouth.”

“Also remember that Pete did not wash his hands,” Campos-Duffy explained. “He’s like an army guy. He’s tough.”
