He expressed his regret on social media, declaring, “I’m so sorry to do this but my voice just isn’t there at all tonight and without it there’s no show. I’m truly sorry to let you down, especially at such short notice… I held onto hope until the very last moment.”

Zayn continued, “I’m hopeful with some rest tonight I’ll be back on stage tomorrow. My deepest apologies Newcastle. Love you all.”

Zayn’s absence at the Newcastle City Hall concert was announced over the speakers to astounded fans who were told that the event “will no longer go ahead.” The disappointing message came with an apology for the delayed notification, remarking, “We apologize for the late notice, it was his hope that he would be able to continue with the show.”

Attendees were instructed to reach out regarding rescheduling or refunds and those waiting to be picked up were told to remain in the auditorium until collected. The statement continued, “Please contact your point of purchase for reschedule or refunds. If you have parents or guardians collecting you, please stay in the auditorium and wait to be collected.”

The cancelation comes after Zayn recently shared an emotional tribute to his bandmate Liam Payne. Liam sadly died in October after falling from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Playing, The Halls at the University of Wolverhampton, Zayn said, “I’ve been doing something, at the end of the show, every night, and it’s been dedicated to my brother Liam Payne. Rest in peace. I hope you’re seeing this, we’re in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton, this is for you, Liam.”

At the end of every show, an on screen message read: “Liam Payne 1993-2024. Love you bro” with a pink heart. Fans praised Zayn for the tribute on social media.

One person wrote on X, “My heart can’t handle this.” Another said, “Zayn.. tears are even flowing from my nose.”
