Netflix’s Outer Banks is under mass scrutiny after a surprising scene rocked viewers with a new season still set to come.

Fans are worried that two of the leads of the show, Rudy Pankow and Madison Bailey, had a major falling out and one scene appeared to underscore their concerns. Viewers think that a stunt double was used to keep them further apart from each other, especially after there appeared to be a rift between them off-screen.

While they were always close, Netflix fans started to speculate that there was something more happening between them. However, they had respective partners at the time, which made things a bit tense. To simmer down the drama, both Rudy and Madison went online to calm the narrative down.

Rudy told fans to back-off as the time, writing: “I want to thank my amazing fans/followers who have shown nothing but love and support and are here for just a fun time. Unfortunately I’m here to call out the disrespect and harassment someone who I love dearly is getting on a daily basis. It has gotten to the degree where lies are being spread and accusations are being said that go beyond the normal ‘hate.’ Not only is she not what she is being accused of being, she is the complete opposite and actively is so.”

“Accusing someone you don’t know of being abusive and manipulative is not ok, especially when you don’t know the relationship personally. I’m very happy in the relationship I’m in. I know I might not actively show it on social platforms just how happy we are together, but this is my personal decision to keep most of those moments for myself. To those who are creating such displeasure and opinions about the one I love and my relationship, it’s time to stop.”

After all of that, the new season makes it seem like there is serious separation going on. In one scene, their characters, JJ and Kiara, were cuddling very intimately. However, the actual cuts of the camera angles never put the two on frame at the same time. A fan online called the filming choice “insane,” pointing out the “obvious” issues.

They wrote: “This is just insane, the fact that Rudy and Madison refused to record it together and they had to use stunt double just shows their unprofessionalism to their work. And they weren’t even supposed to be doing anything huge in that scene, just hugging a bit.”

Another added: “I’ve never seen actors go this much out of their way to not interact with each other. this is insane.”
