Kelly Clarkson has made a mysterious jab at her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock over a co-parenting issue.
Making an appearance on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast Kelly, 42, opened up about how children appear to be more easygoing when it comes to their dads than their moms. Kylie, 33, agreed with her as they discussed the difficulties of motherhood and Kelly appeared to have plenty she was keeping under wraps on the subject.
Appearing to take a swipe at Brandon, 48, Kelly admitted: “There’s a lot that I keep in… ’cause co-parenting is fun!” Kelly and Brandon share daughter River Rose, 10, and son Remington Alexander, eight. The couple separated in 2020 after seven years of marriage.
While pair finalized their divorce in 2022 they were still embroiled in a lengthy legal battle over their previous business relationship. Discussing how their children give their dads more leeway Kylie recalled how her four-year-old daughter Wyatt – who she shares with husband Jason Kelce – gave her a hard time over a trip to New York.

She said: “Our oldest just hit me with yesterday when I said I was leaving to come to New York… ‘Oh… you’re leaving because you don’t love me?’ And I was like, ‘Great, cool. You know that beach house that we get to have? Isn’t that fun?'”
Kylie then stressed how Jason will travel away during the football season – but Wyatt didn’t want to see her point. She continued: “I said, ‘You know when dad leaves and we talk about like, does dad want to leave?’ And she’s like, ‘No.’ And I’m like, ‘So do you think mom wants to leave for work?’ And she’s like, ‘Well, I just think you could say no.'”
Kelly then admitted that her own children also have much the same tendencies and she isn’t sure where they learned it from. She said: “Isn’t it funny though how different it is? Even from a young age, we didn’t teach them, just innately you’re like… he’s allowed to be somewhere, but you’re not? That is like real interesting. Yeah, there’s a lot that I keep in.”

Kelly added: “Cause co-parenting is fun! It’s like, ‘Oh, he couldn’t come cause of this.’ ‘I’m like, ‘Okay, cool. What! Do you think I just leave and just sit in the park all day?'” Kelly then admitted she has taught her son that it’s ok for moms to be at work.
She continued: “And my son, by the way, I’m always like, ‘Yeah, mommy does work and that’s okay.’ Women and men work. It’s okay, and you’re gonna be fine. I was a latchkey kid and no one was there!… We’re fine.”
Kelly has recently returned to her daytime talk show after being absent over a mysterious “private matter.” She made her comeback on what was coincidentally the 1,000th episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
While she didn’t directly discuss why she has been off work she did touch on the subject by saying she has been through “a lot of ups and downs” in the past.
