To start the New Year with positivity, Princess Beatrice’s stepson, Christopher Woolf Mapelli Mozzi, has proved you can fight back at criticism creatively, even if schoolteachers don’t always get it right. Wolfie’s mum, Dara Huang, shared a personal message about encouraging children to express themselves creatively.
On Instagram, Ms Huang wrote that her nine-year-old son had come home from school after being told he “wasn’t good at art because his teacher said he wasn’t”. Being a positive and encouraging mum, Dara explained how there are “a lot of different expressions for art”, and he creates something that’s “more abstract”.
Accompanying the post was a beautiful montage of Wolfie making abstract art while his mum, Dara, observed, with skilful Wolfie creating his own masterpieces at home on large canvases with materials and paint.

The full post read: “My son is an excellent artist. I remember he came back from school and told me that he wasn’t good at art because his teacher said he wasn’t. (Apparently, he had to draw something like-for-like). I had to explain to him that there are a lot of different expressions for art and he does is something that’s more abstract.
“I wish you could hear his little voice. He talks about his feelings and why he does certain moves. It’s the sweetest thing ever and just a little message to everybody that everybody has a different way to express themselves and that’s ok!”
Fans are in solid agreement with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Dara’s son, and have commented on the video. One wrote: “This child’s paintings are wonderful! The art teacher needs to take a second look!”
Another said: “Love the composition and how he expresses his vision!”
One wrote: “I love his art! Would seriously love to buy it and hang in our home.”
One criticised the teacher who initially made the comment: “Oh, the teachers who think it is part of their jobs to discourage young minds. Where does that come from?? Teaching is about encouraging young minds to learn, create, explore, to be excited about the world. ‘Teachers’ who cannot do that should find another line of work.”
A third added: “Would love to see more of his art in 2026, practice makes perfect. He is an extremely talented young man. Happy New Year.”
Ms Huang is a talented architect who shares her son with property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who married Princess Beatrice in 2020, making the Princess of York the boy’s stepmother.
Wolfie has often been seen at several major royal occasions in recent years, reflecting his place within the wider Royal Family.
