Princess Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, sent a quick message of support to another royal girl dad.
Prince Mateen of Brunei, who welcomed his first child in February, shared a new photo with his baby girl on Instagram on Thursday, March 12. The snap showed Mateen dressed up in his military uniform while holding his daughter, Princess Zahra, who was swaddled in a pink blanket.
Although Mateen, 34, didn’t caption the image, the comments section was full of support, including a brief message from Edoardo: a red heart emoji.
This isn’t the first time Edoardo and Mateen have communicated on social media. When Prince Mateen shared his first photo as a family of three with his daughter and his wife, Princess Anisha, Edo commented, “Congratulations Mateen and Anisha. Zahra ❤️.”

Mateen, the 34-year-old son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his former wife, Mariam binti Abdul Aziz, welcomed his first child in February. The news was first announced by the Bruneian outlet, RTB News.
A message from the outlet, translated into English, said, “In compliance with the orders of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, hereby announces that His Royal Highness Princess Anisha Rosnah binti Adam, wife of His Royal Highness Prince Muda ‘Abdul Mateen ibni His Royal Highness Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, with the permission of Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala, has safely given birth to a daughter on Sunday, 20th, Syaaban, 1447 corresponding to 8th, February, 2026, at 8.50 am.”
“Following this release, 17 cannon shots were fired in the grounds of Istana Nurul Iman,” it added.
A few days later, on Feb. 11, Prince Mateen announced the new addition’s name in an Instagram post.
“Zahra Mariam Bolkiah ♥️,” Mateen wrote on Instagram. “Anisha & I are so grateful to the incredible team at JPMC for their exceptional care and support, and so thankful to everyone for the kind wishes.”
Although Mateen is currently fifth in the Bruneian line of succession, his baby won’t join the list, as their constitution dictates that only Islamic males are eligible for the throne.
