Meghan Markle has been left reeling at claims she is a nightmare to work for and feels she has been ‘betrayed’ by a favoured media company. The Duchess of Sussex was labelled a “dictator in high heels” in a piece for the Hollywood Reporter, one of the most important publications in Tinsel Town.

The story contained allegations of noisy “tantrums” and reducing “grown men to tears”. She was seemingly dubbed ‘Duchess Difficult’ by fed-up staff.

It has now been reported that the actress is upset at the magazine’s parent company, reports the Daily Mail. The Hollywood Reporter is published by PMC, which is also home to Variety.

Meghan and her husband Prince Harry have previously granted access to Variety journalists and feel they have been let down by an apparently ‘friendly’ publisher. A source said: “Meghan is livid with her portrayal and sees the story as a betrayal by a media group she had trusted to share her stories.”

The Hollywood Reporter’s co-editor-in-chief Maer Roshan is said to stand by the story, saying a reporter “talked to one source who said everyone is terrified of Meghan”. While the Sussexes have failed to comment on the allegations, they are understood to deny the claims with a pal describing the report as “ill-informed”.

The remarkable article described Meghan as “terrible” while Prince Harry was dubbed “very, very charming” but an “enabler” for Meghan’s apparent behaviour. The insider said: “She’s absolutely relentless. She marches around like a dictator in high heels, fuming and barking orders. I’ve watched her reduce grown men to tears.”

However, a friend of the Sussexes spoke up for Meghan last week. Bryony Gordon described the pair as “a pretty ordinary couple existing in an absolutely extraordinary situation” and insisted: “There are no airs or graces with them, no desire to do anything other than protect their children from an increasingly digital world that likes nothing more than seeing the worst in people.

“A world that forgets that no matter how high profile a person is, they’re just doing their best, like everyone else.” It has also been claimed neighbours in the Californian community of Montecito are fed up with the pair.
