Prince Harry has reportedly made a decision about what to do with his cash windfall from his great-grandmother.

The Queen Mother is said to have put £19 million into a trust fund for the Royal Family before her death in 2002. Part of the money was to be earmarked for Prince Harry and the other part was to be saved for his older brother, Prince William.

Each brother reportedly received the cash when they turned 40, with Harry marking the occasion on Sunday. And, due to how the Royal Family divides their finances, he is estimated to have received the bigger share, between £7million and £8million.

This is because William, as the heir to the throne, will benefit hugely from the Duchy of Cornwall, a private estate that pays for the public, charitable and private activities of the King’s heir.

According to a Woman’s Day source, Harry wants to save his great-grandmother’s money.

The source said: “He wants to put the inheritance away for their future, especially for Archie [five] and Lili [three].”

Harry has previously said Archie and Lilibet, the children he shares with wife Meghan Markle, are the “best gift” he has ever received.

Speaking in People magazine, he said: “[I] love being their dad.”

A former palace aide claimed the money from the Queen Mother was said to be a “tax-efficient” way for her to leave her family some money. They said: “There was a trust fund set up at the time.

“It was a way in which the Queen Mother could set aside money for when her great-grandchildren were older and a way of passing a slice of her estate down in a tax-efficient way.

“It was a way in which some of her estate could be ring-fenced for them.”

King Charles sent his youngest son a touching message when he turned 40 at the weekend. In a post on social media website X, the official account for the King and Queen Camilla said: “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!”

It was accompanied by a loving picture, in which a smiling and laughing Prince Harry can be seen wearing a light grey suit jacket, white shirt, along with his signature bracelets – and he is caught grinning off camera.
