Chaotic scenes have erupted in Sydney’s North Shore after a water pipe burst – leaving thousands of residents with no power and water.
The burst occurred in Grasmere Rd in Cremorne, where parts of the road, including the corner of Young St, fully collapsed due to pressure.
Footage captured by 9News shows murky water seeping into Sydney Harbour.

In a statement, Sydney Water said they were aware of property damage to several buildings.
It is understood a customer advocate has been brought in to liaise with impacted customers.
The burst resulted in flooding across the area, with water flowing down to the bottom of Primrose Park and into the harbour.

Water had been turned off, impacting more than 20,000 homes across the area as more than 19,000 residents received little to no water.
Houses across Mosman, Cremorne, Crows Nest, Artarmon, Chatswood, Roseville and Lindfield were left without power and had their taps switched off.
Sydney Waters has now restored water supply to the affected properties, with customers who still have supply interruptions being advised to contact 13 20 90.
Repair is underway with Grasmere Rd and Young St remaining partially closed and motorised advised to avoid the area.
“Sydney Water apologises for the inconvenience and appreciates the community’s patience while repairs continue,” a Sydney Water spokesperson said.
