Prince Harry is set to receive millions of pounds from the late Queen Mother when he celebrates his 40th birthday on September 15, but the Duke is also known for giving lavish gifts

Prince Harry is marking his landmark 40th birthday today, and while the Duke is set to receive some unforgettable royal gifts, he’s also known for his own generous gift-giving.

The Duke is expected to inherit millions from the late Queen Mother as he celebrates his 40th birthday on September 15, Ok! reports. The Duke’s great-grandmother reportedly left a significant sum for her grandchildren to receive on their 21st and 40th birthdays. A trust containing £19 million was established in 1994 by Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother when Prince Harry was just ten years old, intended to be shared among all her grandchildren.

Reports indicate that each brother would receive £6 million on their 21st birthdays, increasing to around £7million on their 40th birthdays, which Harry is now celebrating. However, Harry is no stranger to lavish gifts – especially when it comes to giving them himself. In 2018, he purchased a first edition of A.A Milne’s Winnie the Pooh book for his nephew, Prince Louis – a gesture inspired by his memories of his late mother. It was previously revealed that Prince Harry wanted to honour Diana’s passion for collecting first editions of classic books and began doing the same for his two nephews and niece, presenting one to Louis for his christening.

And it’s clear Harry didn’t hold back on spending, reportedly shelling out an estimated £8,000 on an original copy of A. A Milne’s Winnie the Pooh from 1926. A pal disclosed: “He originally wanted to get Lewis Carroll’s Through The Looking Glass, which was on sale for £24,000, but decided Winnie the Pooh would be more suitable for a first tome. Robinson Crusoe was William’s favourite book, but Harry loved all things A.A. Milne.”

Prince Harry is reportedly planning a thrilling hike into the Californian mountains with his best mates as a self-birthday treat. The Duke of Sussex is said to be preparing to scale the Montecito peak, located along the Cold Spring Trail.

He’s also allegedly organising a holiday with friends to celebrate his milestone 40th birthday, aiming to “enjoy a weekend getaway with a few of his closest mates”.

According to The Sun, his birthday escape will follow a family birthday celebration at his Montecito mansion in California – where Meghan will remain with their children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.

Harry’s birthday is set to be a joyous family event and he isn’t lacking in material possessions, so Meghan won’t need to stress about finding a special gift. According to Harry himself, his children are the greatest gifts he has ever received as he previously told PEOPLE Magazine: “The best gift I’ve ever been given is, without a doubt, my kids. I enjoy watching them grow every single day, and I love being their dad.”
