Prince Harry will be celebrating his 40th birthday on Sunday, with his wife Meghan Markle reportedly set to pull out all the stops to make sure the Duke enjoys the milestone celebration.

As well as a huge 40th birthday bash expected to take place in California over the weekend with the couple’s two children and friends present, Harry is also set to undertake a very special getaway.

According to Page Six, Harry will enjoy a nice break in the mountains with some of his closest friends after the party.

This is set to be before Harry’s solo trip to New York City later this month where he will carry out a number of engagements close to his heart as Meghan stays at home with Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.

The surprise comes as Harry will not be seeing members of the Royal Family for his big day.

Although now believed to be on talking terms with his father King Charles, Harry’s rift with his brother the Prince of Wales is far from over, with the pair no longer on speaking terms.

This was confirmed after the brothers attended a Spencer family funeral last month and reportedly kept their distance the entire time.

While Harry’s dad will not fly across the pond to see his son, royal fans are eager to see whether he will wish his youngest a public happy birthday.

Although traditionally only working members of the royal family are given a public birthday greeting, the late Queen did set a precedent that non-working family members can receive a birthday message publicly on birthdays that end with 0, such as milestones like a 40th.

This means the prince could receive a public royal birthday greeting this year, which would be the first since 2021 when Queen Elizabeth II wished her grandson a happy birthday.

This was her last message to the Duke as she died a week before his birthday in 2022.
