Royal fans issue telling verdict as they compare Meghan Markle to Princess Kate

The Duchess of Sussex’s latest twerking video became a topic of debate on social media.

Meghan Markle’s twerking video to mark Princess Lilibet’s birthday sparked controversy last week, and now royal fans have had their say as they compared the Duchess to Princess Kate. The Duchess of Sussex raised eyebrows last Wednesday after she posted a highly unusual and private family video of her and Prince Harry dancing to Starrkeisha’s The Baby Momma Dance just before Princess Lilibet’s birth to mark her daughter’s fourth birthday.

Despite the video gaining criticism, it is now reportedly Meghan’s second-most-watched reel on her Instagram account. While some royal fans praised the Duchess for the video, several, along with various royal watchers, blasted it.

Now, a new video has emerged on social media comparing Meghan’s behaviour in private to the Princess of Wales’s during public appearances

The 26-second clip shows Meghan dancing with Prince Harry in the hospital and features other appearances by Princess Kate during royal events, including Trooping the Colour and the King’s Coronation. Its message is “Royalty.”

The video has so far amassed three million views and 201,5000 likes, at the time of writing, and despite the divide, several royal fans appeared to praise the Duchess for her “normal” behaviour.

The top comment, liked by 27,5000 people, read: “Meghan and Harry… happier, real, normal…”A

Another user wrote: “Megan living her Life not as a Robot or IA!” A third one said: “Meghan and Harry are the real deal.”

A fourth one defended the duchess, commenting: “God forbid a women decide to hop on a trend about pregnant women!!”

A fifth one noted: “Do you think this comparison is fair? Did Meghan twerk on formal meetings? Or do you think Kate stays all serious and ‘straight’ at home?”

One fan wrote that Kate did step onto the catwalk at a St Andrews University fashion show when she was still a student there with Prince William, but others rushed to her defence, stressing that it was for a good cause and way before she became a royal.

However, there were others who were still not captivated by Meghan’s move, with one user commenting: “Meghan Markle is an absolute disgrace. Kate on the other hand is absolute true class and a real royal princess.”

A second one said: “I just can’t stop laughing. Where is Meghan’s advisor. This is just bad. Big difference between celebrity and royalty.”

A third one opined: “There’s nothing wrong with dancing and having fun. But when you’re married in a royal family, you have to keep an image. Dance, laugh, be silly, but also be respectful.”

The Duchess has not commented on the backlash of her video and has since made new posts on her social media accounts, including a day trip to Disneyland for Princess Lilibet’s birthday and a new picture on her brand, As Ever’s, page.
