Liam Payne’s heartbreaking unreleased song has been shared by a songwriter who worked with the former One Direction star in the months leading up to his tragic death
The internet is mourning as touching details emerge around Liam Payne’s unreleased music. The 31 year old former One Direction heartthrob, whose life was tragically cut short by a fatal fall from a third-floor balcony during his Buenos Aires holiday on October 16, has left behind a haunting melody shared on TikTok.
Songwriter Adam Midgley revealed a gripping track they worked on together, featuring the poignant lyrics: “If I’m lost in the dark now, will you hear me when I call out? Does it ever get easier?”
Recorded during a creative stint, the snippet also included Payne’s voice pondering life’s uncertainties: “I’m a little less high than I used to be. Still a little uncertain of everything. I keep hearing I’m right where I’m supposed to be, so tryna find out what that’s supposed to mean.”
Further delving into introspection, Payne sang, “And I’m all in my head now, every night when I lay down. Does it ever get easier? […] Oh, look what you’ve done, what have you done? Telling myself, look what you’ve done, was it ever enough?”
Midgley, who penned Dua Lipa’s Hotter Than Hell and is under the same Universal Music banner that once backed Payne, took to TikTok with a heartfelt message, explaining their meeting in 2019 at a tumultuous time for Payne following One Direction’s split and a personal breakup.

“Liam wasn’t used to writing his own songs but we spoke for hours about what he’d been through in his life and I wanted to help him try and express things he was bottling up. He was incredibly kind and welcoming to me…we got on so well [that] I ended up going to stay with him for a while in this beautiful home he owned near Malibu,” reports the Daily Star.
Adam revealed that Payne “had such crazy stories and such an unbelievable life,” sharing anecdotes that “blew his mind.”
