Press secretary Karoline Leavitt was humiliated by two podcasters this week after they called the White House official out on her “cultlike” behavior toward her boss, Donald Trump. In their podcast for The New Republic, journalists Greg Sargent and Amanda Marcotte talked about how Leavitt continued to feed her bosses’ constant need for validation.

“She routinely fluffs Trump with astonishingly cultlike descriptions of him to reporters—ones that portray him as powerful, calm, and completely in command of events,” Sargent said of the 27-year-old. “But then, left to his own devices on Truth Social, Trump presents the opposite picture, erupting regularly in wild meltdowns and uncontrollable hissy fits over the tiniest of slights.”

Marcotte added, “The over-the-top nature of it does affect certain people by convincing them—I don’t think Trump’s voters, even his biggest fans, think he’s the greatest president ever.” She stated, “The person with the most integrity via all time; no person has ever been anything more thing than Donald Trump ever has.”

In their podcast for The New Republic, journalists Greg Sargent and Amanda Marcotte talked about how Leavitt continued to feed her bosses’ constant need for validation. 

According to Marcotte, Leavitt’s repeated claims, such as “He’s the greatest businessman of all time,” unfortunately reinforces the alleged notion that he was at least a successful businessman … which he is not. “He was a failure. He bankrupted his company over and over and over again,” Marcotte said during the podcast.

The pair also goes on to discuss the president’s use of “AI-generated and real photographic imagery of over-the-top abuse” of migrants detained by the administration, and functionally kidnapped and renditioned to a foreign prison.” Marcotte said, “And they shaved their heads.”

“They made sure to make their tattoos as garish as possible,” she added. “They had videos of them bent over in these torture positions. And you see the effect that it has on the audience at Trump’s 100-day rally. The crowd went absolutely nuts.”

Leavitt is not the only member of Trump’s staff using the over-the-top flattery. Attorney General Pam Bondi also displayed a knack for buttering up Trump.

“President, your first 100 days has far exceeded that of any other presidency in this country. Ever. Ever. Never seen anything like it. Thank you,” she said during the Cabinet meeting. The in-depth analysis of the press secretary comes after her predecessor, Jen Psaki, critiqued Leavitt’s recent briefing performance.

On MSNBC News, the anchor shared her perspective on how she would handle some of the questions that have been posed to the current press secretary lately. “I have noticed the White House briefing room has taken a bit of a bizarro turn lately,” Psaki began.

“And I figured, what the hell, it’s a Friday night. Why not dust off the cobwebs and field a few questions from the White House press briefing room today? Because it’s been a while,” she added. She first criticized President Donald Trump for exploiting “key part of this presidency” to “make himself and his adult sons richer.”

Addressing a question about why Trump’s recent transactions with the United Kingdom were publicized ahead of those with other nations, she remarked: “The announcement and the headlines it generates are pretty much the point,” adding, “The details are kind of secondary.”
