ust days before he was stripped of his royal titles, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor allegedly asked Prince William for forgiveness for his bad behaviour.

The disgraced former prince is believed to have made this emotional request at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral in September.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ‘plea’ to Prince William

The uncle and nephew duo were photographed at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral in September, 2025, in awkward snaps that displayed William’s discomfort beside Andrew.

Both royals were seen mostly frowning, with William also angling himself away from Andrew in a bid to avoid conversation.

One clip also saw Andrew attempt to speak to William. However, the Prince of Wales maintained a stern expression and even turned away.

A new series on Channel 5 named Lip-Reading the Royals is set to decipher several royal interactions and expose the private conversations that really went on.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ‘appeal’ to the Prince of Wales

For now, a preview of the episode has been released to the public, weighing in on the exchange.

On this occasion, it seems, that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Prince William shared a very awkward moment as Wills appeared to snub Andrew’s plea for forgiveness.

According to the lip reader, as per Metro, Andrew turned to William before uttering: “I’ve learned from what I’ve done.”

The former Duke of York is also believed to have said: “But before I forget, I’d like to ask you if you can forgive?”

William is seen listening, but does not respond.

It is not confirmed what Andrew actually said to William, although, it would make sense, given William’s stony expression.

Representatives for both parties have been contacted for comment on the matter.

Prince William’s awkward body language

Body language expert Adrienne Carter has also discussed Prince William’s reaction to seeing Andrew, describing him as “extremely uncomfortable”.

She continued: “I think his body language is screaming, ‘Get away from me, I don’t want to be photographed, particularly engaging with you’.”

Queen Elizabeth II’s former press secretary Dickie Arbitar also observed as per reports: “William’s face said everything, ‘I don’t want to converse with you, push off’. And I think Andrew probably got the message.”

Princess Kate’s supposed whispers

Reportedly, Princess Kate also chimed in on this hush hush exchange.

The Princess of Wales was said to have approached her husband on Westminster Cathedral’s steps, and according to lip-reader Nicola Hickling, remarked about Andrew: “He seems very sorry.”

William is said to have replied: “Do you think I deserved that” before questioning “Is that what you mean?”

Royal commentator Christo Foufas has since said of the claims: “He might have seemed sorry Princess Catherine but those words did not leave his mouth, he didn’t actually say sorry did he.”

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest

The latest tranche of Epstein files renewed scrutiny upon Andrew’s relationship with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

And following the stripping of his titles in October and his subsequent exit from Royal Lodge, Andrew has well and truly been left out in the cold.

Following the release of files, Andrew was accused of sharing sensitive and confidential documents with Epstein.

He was said to have done this during his time as a UK trade envoy.

Being pictured or named in the Epstein files does not necessarily indicate wrongdoing. Andrew has continuously and vehemently denied wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.

Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct on February 19, his 66th birthday and eventually released eleven hours later, under investigation.

Andrew’s former home, Royal Lodge at Windsor and his temporary accommodation of Wood Farm at Sandringham were searched following his arrest.

The search of Wood Farm concluded upon Andrew’s release from custody. Elsewhere, investigators continued to poke around Royal Lodge. They did so for six days.

Since the arrest and amid the investigation, Andrew has not been seen with the royals. Nor has he attended any public events.

Now, only time will tell when it comes to his fate within The Firm.
