Julie Goodyear’s husband has shared a rare update on the Corrie legend(
The husband of Coronation Street legend Julie Goodyear has shared a rare and emotional update about his beloved wife’s condition — revealing that the star’s health has taken a heartbreaking turn as she continues her battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

In a touching Facebook post, Scott Brand, 55, shared a new photo of Julie, taken on her 83rd birthday at their home in Lancashire. In the image, the beloved actress — best known for her iconic role as Bet Lynch — smiles softly, dressed comfortably and surrounded by warmth and love.
Scott captioned the post:
“Just got home with my lovely wife — we’ve had a fantastic day together. Thank you so much for all your birthday wishes from both of us.”
But those close to the couple admit the update comes with deep sadness. After nearly two years of battling Alzheimer’s, Julie’s condition has “significantly declined,” and her husband has now confessed that “she doesn’t have much time left.” 💔
🕊 “The Woman Who Lit Up Every Room Is Fading Away”
In an emotional reflection, Scott revealed how painful it has been to watch the woman he adores slowly fade.
“I miss the fun-loving wife Julie always was — that larger-than-life personality who brightened up every room. Her laughter, her sparkle… it’s all slowly slipping away, and it’s heartbreaking to watch,” he said quietly.

Julie, once known for her glamorous leopard-print outfits and bold lipstick, has reportedly lost interest in fashion and makeup, symbols that once defined her larger-than-life persona as Bet Lynch.
“Julie has always been extremely glamorous,” Scott said. “But now, the lipsticks sit untouched, and the leopard print stays in the wardrobe.”
💬 Friends Say She’s Still “Living a Good Life”
Despite the decline, close friend Mark Llewellin, who visits weekly, insists Julie remains “content and cared for.”
“Julie is living a good life, really. She still loves leopard print, I’m pleased to say,” he shared. “We have afternoon tea together — I bring her chocolate cake every Sunday, though she never lets me have any!” he joked.
Mark described her home as “Leopard Print Boulevard” and added that Julie still enjoys time outdoors when she feels well enough.
🌹 Fans React to the Emotional Update
Julie’s fans flooded the comments with messages of love and support after Scott posted the new image.
“Wonderful to see her smile, Scott. You’re both incredible,” wrote one.
“Happy birthday, Julie — sending love and prayers,” another added.
“She looks so peaceful. Thank you for sharing this with us,” said a third.
The post marks the first public update in several months, and it has touched the hearts of millions who grew up watching Julie on Coronation Street.
❤️ “Caring for Julie Is My Life Now”
Scott, who gave up his career to care for Julie full-time, admitted that the journey has taken an emotional toll.
“At first, I refused to accept help — I thought I could handle it alone. But caring for Julie became overwhelming. I realised I had to accept support to survive this.”
He now works closely with The Alzheimer’s Society, crediting the charity with giving them guidance and relief.
“They helped us organise care and sort out the practical things. It lifted a huge weight off our shoulders,” he said.
Scott’s unwavering devotion to Julie has moved fans and friends alike. The couple, who married in 2007 after meeting in 1996, have been inseparable ever since.
“Julie still loves visiting friends when she can,” Scott said. “She’s recognised wherever she goes, and people always want to stop and talk — but sometimes it’s hard for her to remember. I just hope people understand.”
🌟 Julie’s Legacy — A True Soap Icon
Julie Goodyear remains one of the most legendary figures in British television history. She joined Coronation Street in 1966, returning in 1970 to become a household name as Bet Lynch — the leopard-print-clad landlady of the Rovers Return.
Over 25 years, she became the face of British soap culture, with 22 million viewers tuning in to watch her farewell episode in 1995.
Her last television appearance was in 2019 for Coronation Street at Christmas, and she remains a beloved icon of the show’s golden era.
Julie is also a long-time patron of Willow Wood Hospice in Greater Manchester, continuing to support dementia and end-of-life care — a cause now more personal than ever.
💔 A Final Chapter Filled with Love
Though her battle with Alzheimer’s grows harder, those around Julie say her spirit remains — gentle, kind, and surrounded by love.
Scott summed it up best:
“We don’t know how much time we have left together… but every day, I’m grateful. I hold her hand, and that’s enough.”
