The actor Timothée Chalamet has shocked fans by appearing at his own look-alike contest in New York on Sunday.

The event had been advertised on flyers around the city and hosted by YouTuber Anthony Po, who has held a variety of look-alike competitions in the past. On the flyer, he promised $50 to the winner.

On the day, contestants were asked questions about Kylie Jenner, who is said to be dating the Call Me By Your Name actor, and they were tested on their French proficiency as Chalamet is both American and French. They were also asked how they would make the world a better place.

No one could have expected that Chalamet would turn up at the event, which he did with bodyguards in tow. The magazine Variety said that Chalamet sneaked his way through the crowd by wearing a mask and baseball hat. Once he revealed himself, he posed for photos with fans and some of his look-alikes—and internet users have been having a field day.

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Chalamet for comment on Monday outside of normal business hours.
