“We hope you’ll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break.”
It’s true, Pogues. Outer Banks will be back for Season 5, and it will also be the final season of the series. The Season 4 finale, which is the first feature-length episode of the show, “sets the stage for an epic fifth and final season,” Outer Banks creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke tell Tudum.
In a letter to the fans, the OBX creators further reflect on what working on the series for the past seven years has meant to them. And, how it all started when they came across a photo of teenagers on a beach at dusk during a power outage.
“That photo sparked an idea for a story of four best friends who only want to have a good time all the time,” the creators say in the letter. “From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship.” From there, P4L was born.
As they’re currently in the midst of working on the Season 5 scripts, the endgame is in sight. Season 4’s main treasure hunt of the Blue Crown “should carry us through all the way to the end,” says Burke.
Outer Banks: Season 4, Part 1 debuted at No. 1 in the Global Top 10 English TV following its release on Oct. 10 and has remained in the top 10 for three weeks, reaching the top 10 in 74 countries, leading up to the release of Part 2 on November 7. Across all four seasons, Outer Banks has spent a total of 27 weeks in the global Top 10 English TV List.
The creators have also had the final frame of Outer Banks in their minds for a while. As they previously told Tudum last season, “We’ve always known from the beginning what the last scene would be,” said Josh Pate.
