Jeff Kober, known for his role as Duke Ekins on The Pitt, has an extensive acting career spanning four decades across TV and film.
Another guest star, another moment left scratching your head as you squint your eyes at your television screen and wonder where the heck you recognize them from.
This week on The Pitt, we finally met the elusive Duke Ekins, who Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) has been waiting all shift for. The motorcycle engineer and longtime pal of the ER doc gets the VIP treatment when he reluctantly checks in at Robby’s insistance after months of on-again-off-again hoarseness.
Now, Duke—or should we say his actor, Jeff Kober, has one of those faces you don’t forget, framed by a well-groomed goatee and shoulder-length gray locks. But while you just know his face, do you know why?

The actor is no stranger to Hollywood, securing guest spots and starring roles across TV and film over the last four decades. In fact, he’s been in so much it’s easy to see him in other costumes, time periods and settings, but it’s probably hard to pull enough of it to recall just what project you’re thinking of.
Like the little actress who played Kylie earlier in the season, he’s appeared in the One Chicago universe, playing Doug Green in one episode of Chicago Med back in 2024. And if you’re a fan of The Walking Dead, you’ll quickly be able to place him as the leader of The Claimers, the group that took Daryl in after the prison fell, and who was killed by Rick ripping his throat out with his teeth.

Kober has also appeared in episodes of 9-1-1—just like his fellow newcomer to The Pitt, Lou Ferrigno Jr., who played Park the Shark (aka orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brendon Park)—Van Helsing, Shameless, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, New Girl, Walker, Texas Ranger, and several episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles and New Orleans. He’s was also featured widely on Sons of Anarchy as Jacob Hale, Jr.

Meanwhile soap fans will recognize him for his years-long turn as Cyrus Renault across hundreds of episodes of General Hospital.
This filmography really barely scratches the surface of his extensive body of work, which kicked off with an episode of V in 1985.
What was it that you ended up recognizing Kober from?
