She began: “Hello, I’m talking about this because it might help someone and this is what I always do. I just wanted to tell you that I have had breast cancer. I found a lump a few weeks ago. It came and went. And then I was on the Masked Singer and Lorraine Kelly, her TV show, put signs on the back of the doors saying, ‘Check your breasts.’”

Davina continued: “I did that and it was still there. Then one morning I saw it in the mirror and I said, ‘I’m going to get that looked at.’

“So I had a biopsy. I found out it was indeed breast cancer. I had it taken out in a lumptectomy nearly three weeks ago.

She explained that the “margins were very, very small” and the doctors caught the diagnosis early.

“I’m so very lucky,” Davina commented, “and so relieved to have had it removed and to know it hasn’t spread.”

The presenter explained her lymph nodes were all clear.

Davina said she will now undergo five days of radiotherapy in January.

She went on: “Then I’m on my journey to try and stop it ever coming back. I just want to say a massive thank you to everybody at Royal Marsden. Thanks to my family. My brilliant kids. And an extra special thanks to Michael.

It’s been a lot. I’ve been very angry when I found out but I let go of that. And I feel in a much more positive place now. My message is get checked if you’re worried. Check yourself regularly. If you are due a mammogram then get it done.”

She added: “I have dense breasts and I had a mammogram in August and I was postponing the ultrasound. I just couldn’t find time to do it. Don’t do that. Get the ultrasound. Thanks for watching and I’m sending you all so much love.”

In November, Davina had asked for prayers before having the operation to get the 14mm benign tumour – called a colloid cyst – removed.

She said: “A few months ago, I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a  health scan in return, which I thought I was gonna ace.

“But it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst which is very rare. Three in a million. So I slightly put my head in the sand.”

Davina explained she got a second opinion and saw “quite a few” neurosurgeons before getting the op
