Exclusive: Danny airs his true feelings after Bec’s ‘I love you’ bombshell on MAFS 2026
EXCLUSIVE: Finding love is the ultimate goal of the Married At First Sight experiment, and at the most recent Commitment Ceremony Bec revealed she’d found it.
Bec surprised everyone, including her husband, Danny, when she told him “I love you” on the couch in front of the experts – after ignoring advice from a co-star to wait.
Danny did not say it back, telling nine.com.au it was the last thing he expected.
“I was just shocked when I heard it. Normally, girls would hint towards that,” he said.
“I was thrown a little bit but with Bec you never know what to expect. I don’t even think she knows what to expect.”
Danny was definitely taken aback by the L-bomb. (Nine)
Danny said he would’ve preferred if Bec’s declaration was said “behind closed doors” rather than in front of everyone, but understood being in the experiment didn’t exactly call for privacy.
“This is MAFS isn’t it? You’ve got to take the rough with the smooth,” he said.
Danny did not return the L-bomb, saying he “definitely would never say ‘I love you’ to someone I didn’t love”.
Bec’s decision to share her feelings on the couch was spur-of-the-moment, but she had known it was love for a while.
“Stella and I had talked about it on the retreat, only she knew, and then when I got back from the retreat, I rang Sammy and I said, ‘Sammy, this is how I feel.’
“Sam said, ‘I think you should wait to say it.’ Then at the Commitment Ceremony, I just turned to Danny and I said, ‘I love you’. I’m a lover girl at the end of the day. That’s how I felt in the moment,” she said.

She knew she caught Danny off guard and did not expect him to say it back.
“I think that the way Danny responds is going to be a big talking point to everyone, because everyone thinks, ‘Oh, he’s not into her, he’s not into her.’
“At that time, I didn’t expect him to say it back to me, at all. I had zero expectation of that. But that’s how I felt, and I was always going to say it. I’m not going to deny saying things.”
Although he wasn’t there yet, Danny told Bec her words made him “happy”. (Nine)
That meant she also had no regrets about putting her heart on the line.
“This is me: the good, the bad, the ugly, and the great, you’re seeing it all. I don’t have any regrets. He is an amazing human being.”
