“A two-faced person”: Simon looked much happier after admitting he was ‘devastated’ to lose Liam

Simon Cowell and his fiancée Lauren Silverman were spotted enjoying a vacation in Barbados months after losing Liam Payne

Simon Cowell, 65, made a rare outing with his fiancée Lauren Silverman, 47, during a sunny holiday to Barbados.

The couple – who share a son, Eric, 10 – was spotted in Bridgetown on Sunday, jet skiing on the tropical island. Simon and Lauren looked in high spirits during their day on the water. The spouses-to-be both chatted when they were close enough on their jet skis, and sported tans while hiding their faces behind sunglasses.

Simon wrapped up more than Lauren, wearing a t-shirt and long shorts, and was seen throwing peace signs and thumbs ups as he raced around on the sea with his partner.

Their winter getaway comes after Simon has kept a lower profile in the last few months, following the tragic death of One Direction star Liam Payne at the age of just 31 in October.

Simon previously shared his heartbreak after the death of Liam, and was seen being comforted by Liam’s parents during the star’s funeral. After news of Liam’s fall in Argentina broke, Simon wrote: “You never really know how you feel about someone until a moment like this happens. Liam, I am devastated. Heartbroken. And I feel empty. And I want you to know how much love and respect I have for you. Every tear I have shed is a memory of you.

“This is so difficult to put into words right now. I went outside today, and I thought about so many times we had together. I wanted to let you know what I would always say to the thousands of people who would always ask me. What is Liam like? And I would tell them you were kind, funny, sweet, thoughtful, talented, humble, focused. And how much you loved music. And how much love you genuinely had for the fans.”

Although Liam is gone, Simon still shares a connection with his family via former The X Factor judge Cheryl. Simon reportedly played Cupid with Cheryl and Liam, who went on to welcome son Bear in March 2017. Bear reunited Simon and Cheryl after the duo fell out, with Simon divulging that Liam’s son gets on well with Eric.

Part of Simon’s low profile since Liam’s death might be due to accusations from some X Factor stars that Liam’s fame from the show led to his struggles. Former X Factor star Katie Waissel, who appeared on the 2010 series, hit out at Simon Cowell following Liam’s death. Katie wrote: “My heart is completely torn to shreds right now, I am at an absolute loss for words. If Simon Cowell dare put a statement out on the heart wrenching, tragic loss of my dear and darling friend Liam, he would be a fool. We all know the truth… and I’ll be sure it all comes out.”

She soon after added: “His tragic passing not only leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who loved him but also serves as a painful reminder of the systemic neglect that persists in the industry.”

Similarly, singer Rebecca Ferguson hinted that had Liam not made it to his X Factor audition, he may not have passed away so young: “It’s always a hotel room! We both met at Euston station and shared the taxi together to X Factor. I can’t help but think of that boy who was hopeful and looking forward to his bright future ahead. If he hadn’t jumped on that train and jumped in that taxi I believe he would be alive today.”
