A missing Wisconsin woman who was reportedly heard pleading “don’t shoot me” while on a phone call before she disappeared has been found.
Gabriella Cartagena, 24, was located on Tuesday, Feb. 10, six days after she was last seen by her family, authorities said.
The Marinette Police Department did not provide any information on Cartagena’s condition in an updated press release — only sharing that she had been located and more information would follow as soon as possible.
“We would like to thank the entire community for the help we have received,” the release states.
Cartagena had been considered an “involuntary missing” person prior to being found, police said.
WBAY reported that Cartagena’s family said their last communication with her before she went missing was a phone call.
“Please don’t shoot me,” she reportedly pleaded during the call, per the outlet. “I’m sorry.”
WBAY and WLUK reported that a person of interest in Cartagena’s disappearance had been taken into custody in Minnesota.
According to her family, per WBAY, Robert Chilcote, was the last person to see her.
Jail records indicate that Chilcote is currently in custody in Wright County, Minn., as a fugitive from another state, as well as on a charge of fleeing a police officer.
It is not clear if the out-of-state charge has anything to do with Cartagena.
