Prince Harry is said to be “very sad” Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are “missing out on life with the rest of their family”.

A source close to the Duke of Sussex, 41, referred to Prince William’s children — Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s cousins — and their connections to the royal family as they described Harry’s sadness. The pal said: “Harry feels his children are missing out on the extensive family network that their cousins are enjoying.

“Harry wants his children to have the very best education. He has retained his closest friendship group of confidants from his days at school at Ludgrove and Eton. He wants that for his own children… Archie and Lili are having a lovely time in California, but Harry is very sad that they are missing out on life with the rest of their family.”

But Meghan Markle, 44, painted a picture of family bliss by sharing two adorable photographs of Archie on Wednesday to commemorate his seventh birthday. One showed Archie and Lilibet enjoying a trip to the seaside in the US, where Meghan and Harry have lived since quitting royal duties in 2020.

Last year, Harry waxed lyrical about life in the US. The father of two had said: “I enjoy living and bringing my kids up here, it’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live and it feels as though it’s the life that my mum wanted for me.”

But pals believe his opinion has changed somewhat recently, particularly after Prince William and Princess Kate released a new photograph and video of Princess Charlotte to mark her 11th birthday last Saturday. It led to Prince Harry’s friend to tell the Daily Mail the royal desperately wishes his own children enjoyed the same sort of childhood as their cousins; Charlotte, Prince George, 12, and eight-year-old Prince Louis.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ kids attend the same public school, £32,000-per-year Lambrook in Berkshire. Harry himself went to Ludgrove School, another private school in Berkshire. After passing entrance exams, Harry attended Eton College.

But it is understood Meghan is against her children following in such footsteps. The insider continued: “There is still some negotiation for Harry to have with Meghan. The King, however, is delighted.”

The source’s comments suggests that the duke had mentioned his plans to educate his children in Britain to his father, who he met for tea at Clarence House last September. Reports claim Harry hopes to bring Meghan, and possibly their children, with him when he returns to Britain in the summer to publicise the Invictus Games for injured and sick former service personnel.
